God called His soldier home Friday, December 08, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Hodge and Fannie Fitts Hodge, his lovely wife Katherine Hodge of 65 years, and son, David Aaron Hodge. “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 We cling to the assurance of God’s grace, as He, in his infinite wisdom, has determined the right timing of Rev. Hodge’s homecoming. On various occasions, Rev. Hodge had proclaimed: “when my time comes, don’t be sorry for me but rejoice. Rev. Hodge was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on March 16, 1917. He was a Minister of the gospel who loved God and his church first, wife, children, grand-children next. He was called of God, God spoke to Him and told Him as a young man “If you preach my Word I will give you a people” which instilled a fire in him that was un-quenchable. Pastor Hodge and his wife together founded and served in five churches spanning a career in ministry of 65 years. He served on the board of the Tennessee District United Pentecostal Church for over 20 years. He was still serving as Senior Pastor of Faith Tabernacle Church, Medon, TN when God called him home. Pastor Hodge loved people and would always put others welfare above his own, and many times gave his last dime to someone less fortunate than himself. He would preach to a congregation of 30 or thousands and traveled all over the United States preaching and teaching God’s Word. Pastor Hodge leaves behind and will be sadly missed by daughters and son-in-laws, Joyce and David Young of Clarksville, TN, Peggy and Doug Jones, Waverly, TN, Marcie and Jim Hendrick of Jackson, Kay and Mike Davis of Jackson, one son Harold Victor Hodge, Jr and wife Donna of Jackson. He leaves behind a legacy of sixteen grandchildren, 24 great grand-children, many nieces, nephews, and his Faith Tabernacle Church family. Beautiful indeed was the life of Pastor Hodge, made so by faithful service to God. Our family chain was broken when God called our Mother home and now he has called our Father’s name but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again. Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers, with honorary pallbearers, Ray Hale, Roy Spencer, Carl Ostrom, Jerry Byars, David Young, Doug Jones, Jim Hendrick, and Mike Davis. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, December 10, 2006 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors and on Monday, December 11, 2006 from 10:00 AM until the service time. Memorials can be made to the future Family Life Center of Faith Tabernacle Church. |
