DAILY DEVOTION: 05/05/05
I am so reminded, over eleven years ago of the faith and dedication of my father, his vision, his burden and more than anything to see a spirit-filled church in Medon, TN. So many had said it will never happen, they sure didn’t know the call that was upon my father. If God told him to go he knew that God would go with him and it would be accomplished.
I was even told that the Church of God Organization had tried to organize a church several times in Medon and just couldn’t seem to make it work. It hasn’t been easy, but God’s hand is upon the church and as long as we seek for His perfect will and follow through there will be a church in Medon, TN. We have been through the fire but never been burned. We’ve been through the flood but we have never drowned.
We couldn’t go over, we couldn’t go under, we couldn’t go around we had to go through. God never asked us to do one thing that he didn’t go before us leading the way. A few things that God has helped us be victorious; One Sunday morning even before I came Bro. Hodge, my sister Kay and her husband Mike went to church one Sunday and the doors were pad locked, it so reminds me when Peter was in prison, Acts 12:6-7 says Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains and the keepers before the door kept the prison, and the Angel of the Lord came upon him and a light shined in the prison and smote Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly and his chains fell off from his hands and a angel said follow me. They came to the Iron Gate which opened unto them and they went out. There were no chains or pad locks that could keep Faith Tabernacle from being a success, when God places his hand on a project it will succeed.
One year later Senior Pastor, Bro. Hodge went through five surgeries, major heart surgery, colon cancer, several times the doctors would give him no hope, they just didn’t know my God. However, some of the doctors gave God the praise because they knew it wasn’t anything within their power to help him. Eleven years later he is still giving God the glory. He would say to me when he didn’t even feel like standing up drive me through Medon and would start praying. He rebuked the devil and told him there would be a church in Medon, TN. He would then go to the church and pray, you see the Lord loved the church so much he gave His life for it.
I love this church but Christ doesn’t ask us to give our life, He just wants us to serve Him with our whole hearts. There is a beautiful spirit-filled church in Medon, TN today, a church where God restores, refreshes, and renews. There is a Holy Ghost fire that burns and no one can put it out, anyone who tries will be defeated. The bible says No weapon formed against Him shall stand.
God has shown us through hard work, prayer, and perseverance we will have a Family Life Center. The Bible says call those things that are not as if they were.
